New flight connections from Brussels to Kemi-Tornio and Kittilä airports

Brussels Airlines is expanding its route network by launching two new direct scheduled flights to Finnish Lapland. The airline will open routes connecting Brussels to Kemi-Tornio and Brussels to Kittilä for the 2026–2027 winter season.

"The new direct flights from Brussels to Kemi-Tornio and Kittilä airports are excellent news for tourism in Northern Finland. Flights to Brussels offer travelers departing from Finland extensive onward connections to the rest of Europe. Furthermore, the route serves travelers from Central Europe, a group that has traditionally been a significant segment of visitors to Finnish Lapland," says Petri Vuori, Director of Route Development at Finavia.

As a destination, Kemi offers travelers coastal nature and an archipelago, hiking opportunities, and adventure activities suitable for the whole family. The Kemi-Tornio area provides easy access to other Lapland destinations, the Meri-Lappi region, and Sweden. Conversely, Brussels’ central location means it is a short distance to France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Additionally, Brussels serves as a convenient gateway to explore famous Belgian towns such as Bruges and Ghent, Antwerp—known as the diamond city—and relaxed seaside destinations like Ostend.

According to a press release from Brussels Airlines, flights between Brussels and Kemi-Tornio will operate once or twice a week from December 25, 2026, to March 10, 2027. According to the press release, the route between Brussels and Kittilä will be operated three times a week from December 10, 2026, to March 27, 2027.

Kemi-Tornio Airport currently hosts state-subsidized air services. In addition to these subsidized flights, the airport also handles occasional charter flights each year.
